Sinclair Credit Card

Founded by Henry Sinclair in 1916, Sinclair has grown to become one of the largest oil companies in the United States. The company runs a number of oil fields and refineries, and has a brand presence at gas stations, truck stops and gas marts across the country. The company offers a number of payment and advantage card programs, including the Sinclair Credit Card.

How does this credit card shape up? On the whole this is a quite a confusing credit card. First of all, there is no clear distinction between the Sinclair Charge Card and the Sinclair Credit Card – they appear to be one and the same, despite the fact that charge cards and credit cards are two different things. To add to the confusion, it is clearly stated that this card is not a revolving line of credit and that you must accordingly pay off the balance you accrue in full at the end of each balance cycle. However, interest rates do come into play if you fail to completely pay off your balance when you are supposed to. So if you have an outstanding balance at the end of a billing period, it appears that you will be fined unpaid finance charges, as well as a charge based on a periodic rate.

Charge cards with the major credit card companies do not come with interest rates — they simply charge a flat fee if you fail to pay off the balance in full at the end of each billing cycle. But with clearly advertised annual rates, it is obvious that this card is not just a charge card, and does allow you to take a balance forward as long as you pay the unpaid finance charges. Overall the Sinclair Credit Card appears to be a mix between a charge card and a credit card, though the one clear thing is that it is supposed to be used as a charge card. Returned payment fees are $20.
